Atelier is a gallery app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, made by groov creator limited, the makers of Biblio. It has no account of its own, no ads and no trackers. This page says what stays with you, what leaves, and why.
Your archive
Your pictures, and everything you write about them, are kept as files on your device. If you turn on the archive in iCloud Drive, or invite your family to a shared archive, they are stored in and shared through your own iCloud, which Apple runs and we cannot see into. We never receive your pictures, unless you publish a collection (below).
What the app talks to
Looking through a museum's collection sends your search words to that museum, and a link you paste is fetched from its own site. The camera and the photos you choose are used to add works and nothing else. Linking Biblio is optional and signs you in to your Biblio account; Atelier reads your books and never changes them. Sending feedback opens an email in your own mail app with the app's version and your device's model filled in, and you see everything that goes.
Publishing a collection (beta)
You can publish a collection as a page anyone with its link can see, at atelierapp.live. Nothing is published unless you choose a collection and press Publish, and the app shows you first exactly what will go.
- What goes: the collection's name and, for each work, a copy of its picture made for the page, with its title, year and size, and the maker's first name only if you turn that on. The copy is drawn afresh, so it carries no location, camera or date from the original photo. Masters carry their artist and museum.
- What never goes: your originals, stories, tags, ages, birthdays and full dates; works shared with your family; and inspiration you saved from other people.
- Where it is kept: on Cloudflare, which hosts atelierapp.live, under the id of the Biblio account you published with, so that only you can update or remove it.
- Who sees it: anyone with the link. The link is long and random, the page is not listed anywhere, and search engines are asked not to index it, but anyone you give the link to can pass it on.
- Taking it down: Unpublish removes the page and its pictures at once. Deleting your Biblio account removes every page you published. Each page has a link to report it to us, and we take down pages that break the law or put a child at risk.
Publishing is for the adults who keep the work. We ask you not to publish anything you do not have the right to share.
Usage and purchases
Atelier logs a small number of anonymous, first-party events (such as a room being opened, a work being added or a page being published) tied to a random per-install identifier. They never include a picture, a title, a name, or your Biblio account. You can turn this off under About Atelier ("Help improve Atelier"). Purchases are processed by Apple, and RevenueCat confirms them for us using an anonymous identifier.
Notes from Atelier
Notes are off until you say yes, and you can turn them off under About Atelier. A note when a work turns a year old is worked out and scheduled on your device; its picture and title never leave it. Other notes, such as a word about something new, are sent through OneSignal. Only once you say yes does Atelier give OneSignal a random identifier for your device and a few rough words: about how many works you keep, about how long since you last added one, which purchase you hold, whether you share with family, and whether you have opened the mood board. Like any service your device talks to, OneSignal also sees the device's model, system version, language, time zone and, from its internet address, the country. Never a picture, a title, a name, or your Biblio account, and nothing used to track you across other apps.
Deleting
Deleting a work deletes its files. Deleting the app removes your local copy; your iCloud data is managed like any other app's, through your Apple Account. Published pages go when you unpublish them or delete your Biblio account, which you can do in Biblio or by asking us.
